Celebrating 70 years of Porsche at Targa Florio
This year’s event proudly marks the 70th anniversary of Porsche’s first major victory at the Targa Florio in 1956.
On 10 June 1956, Italian driver Umberto Maglioli gave Porsche its first overall Targa Florio victory, driving a Porsche 550 A Spyder on Sicily’s punishing mountain roads. The lightweight 1.5-litre sports car defeated larger, more powerful rivals, establishing Porsche’s international racing reputation and launching a legendary motorsport legacy.
